We had a blast at Expression last night. At around 7:45pm, we came to the conclusion that people decided to stay home because of the inclement weather. Boy, were we wrong! Despite of the ice and rain, you decided to pack the house out on Friday! Itohan sparked the night with two poetry pieces. Tre Thomas then gave three original R&B urban selections. (Watch out NeYo!) He also closed out the night with a rendition of More Than Anything, a powerful gospel number. Pascal, a Haitan artist who lives all the way in Canada, was our featured painter. Three other incredible artists, including Al Lowe, did some amazing oil pastel drawings. Wow! Were they incredible. Glenn introduced many of us to KRUMP dancing. Prior to dancing, he did a spoken word selection based on the dance. Big Homey also swung through for our open mic session. Aaron, Jessica, and the crew from Seven Spot swung and participated for the first time. The biggest surprise of the night was Hans who did spoken word for the first time in his life and literally killed the mic! Our sound guy, Marc Ware, came through for us big time the day before the event. We appreciate your service, bro. I’ve got to say this. I was truly encouraged by the large amount of male participation this month. The guys truly represented! To all the other poets, musicians, artists, and attenders thank you for pressing through to make Expression February a success. Stay tuned! We will announce our special musical artist for March. Trust me! You do not want to miss Expression on March 28, 2008. I’m telling you! Mark your calendar from now!
